Cancer Society of Finland Campaign
Project Summary
The Cancer Society of Finland’s anti-smoking campaign aimed at youth utilized a innovative approach by creating impactful visuals using cigarette butts as mosaic elements. Each poster featured bold, evocative imagery, such as a skull or a nicotine stained teeth, constructed entirely from actual cigarettes to visually emphasize the consequences of smoking. The campaign was designed for high visibility in outdoor settings and popular youth magazines, where it was presented as centerfold posters—evoking the style of band posters often admired by teens.
This campaign resonated strongly with its target audience and earned recognition for its creativity and message impact. It was named Finland’s Best Outdoor Campaign of the Year and won several prestigious international awards, including a Cannes Lions Bronze Lion.
Note: This project was done while I was in another agency. The result is a compounded effort of the talented professionals I had the good fortune to work with at the time. The reason I’m featuring this project, is that I carried the primary responsibility of the creative end result within this project.
